Air Conditioning Repair & Service in the Roaring Fork
and Vail Valleys
Is your air conditioner blowing warm air, freezing up, leaking, making unusual noises, or not turning on?
When your AC quits, it never asks if the timing works for you. Hydronix Mechanical provides air conditioning repair and service for homes and businesses throughout the Roaring Fork and Vail Valleys. We diagnose the actual problem, explain it in plain English, and fix it right the first time.
Air Conditioning Repair
From frozen coils to failed compressors, we handle AC repair for homes and businesses across the valleys, on central air conditioning systems, ductless mini splits, and heat pumps.
Every repair visit starts with diagnosis, not guesswork. We test the system, find the actual cause, and show you what we found. Then you get a straight explanation of what it will take to fix it and what it will cost, before we do the work. No mystery line items, no upselling, and no recommending a new system because it is easier to sell than a repair. Fixing things right is the whole reason this company exists.
Air Conditioning Service & Maintenance
An air conditioning service visit is not someone glancing at the thermostat and calling it good. Routine AC maintenance is how small, cheap problems get caught before they become big, expensive ones, and it is the difference between equipment that lasts and equipment that dies young.
Our AC service includes a real inspection of the system: refrigerant charge, electrical connections, condenser and evaporator coils, condensate drain, airflow, and controls. We clean what needs cleaning, correct what maintenance can correct, and tell you when a part needs further attention. You get an honest report of the system's condition, not a scare list.
When should you schedule it? Ideally before cooling season, but the second best time is now. Mountain summers are short and hard on equipment, and a system that sat all winter and then ran flat out through July has earned a checkup. Skipped maintenance can shorten equipment life, quietly raise your energy use, and even affect your warranty coverage. We cover all three on our blog.
Common AC Problems We Fix
Not cooling at all. The system runs but the house never gets cooler. Often refrigerant, a failed component, or airflow trouble. Diagnosable, and usually fixable.
Blowing warm air. One of the most common calls we get, and one of the most misdiagnosed. We find the actual cause before touching anything.
Freezing up. Ice on the lines or coil means something upstream is wrong: airflow, refrigerant, or both. Running it while frozen makes it worse, so shut it off and call.
Leaking water. Usually a condensate drain problem. Small fix if caught early, drywall repair if not.
Short cycling. Starting and stopping every few minutes wears equipment out fast and cools poorly. Several possible causes, all worth finding.
Won't turn on. Sometimes it is the equipment, sometimes it is as simple as a tripped breaker or a failed thermostat. We will tell you honestly which one it was.
Repair or Replace? An Honest Answer.
Some companies answer this question the same way every time: replace. We do not. Whether repair or replacement makes sense depends on the age of the system, what the repair costs against what a new system costs, how the equipment has been maintained, whether parts are still available, and how long you plan to be in the home.
When a repair makes sense, we will tell you. When you are pouring money into equipment that is done, we will tell you that too, and show you why so you can decide for yourself. You will never get a replacement pitch from us just because it is the bigger ticket.

Frequently Asked Questions
How fast can you get here? Call us and we will give you a real answer based on the schedule, not a promise a dispatcher can't keep. If your situation can't wait, say so when you call.
Do you charge to diagnose the problem? We charge for our time honestly and we tell you what to expect before we come out. What you will not get is a free estimate that is quietly built into an inflated repair price.
Do you work on mini splits and heat pumps? Yes. Central AC, ductless mini splits, and heat pumps, for homes and businesses.
Is it worth servicing an older system? Usually, yes. Maintenance is often what decides whether an older system gets more good years or an early funeral. If it is truly at the end, we will say so instead of selling you a tune-up it doesn't need.
Do you offer maintenance plans? We offer both one-time service visits and customized preventive maintenance agreements, including for property managers with multiple systems to keep track of.
What if it's not the AC at all? It happens. Thermostats, breakers, and airflow problems can all impersonate a broken air conditioner. Diagnosis comes first, so you pay to fix the real problem.
