10 Days of Maintenance: Before Your Equipment Chooses the Timing

A shiver jolts you awake.
Did that really just happen?
One look out the window confirms it. Colorado weather has done it again. It is freezing outside, even though you know it could still be 80 degrees this afternoon.
You climb out of bed and tiptoe over to the thermostat.
No problem. Just switch it from “Cool” to “Heat,” and the house will be warming up in no time.
You change the setting and wait.
And wait.
And wait.
Nothing happens.
The thermostat says “Heat On,” but the house is completely silent.
Now what?
Wait. It is still July.
Right. None of this has happened yet.
But blink and we are going to be opening our doors to little gremlins in Ghostface masks, witches, and Spider-Men singing, “Trick or treat!” Blink again and you will be wrapping Christmas gifts, sneaking presents under the tree, stuffing stockings, and downing Santa’s cookies and milk with a smile on your face even though your foot is KILLING you because you just stepped on another Lego left in the middle of the hallway.
Before you know it, that cold morning will not be part of a story. It will be happening.
Over the next 10 days, Hydronix Mechanical is going to tell 10 short stories about preventive maintenance. Each story will answer one important question about your heating and cooling equipment:
Wait, there’s a rush for preventive maintenance?
Is your A/C really ready for what it has already been through this summer?
What will happen the first time you switch your thermostat to “Heat”?
Do you know the difference between “it turns on” and a true internal inspection?
Could a small issue be quietly developing inside your system right now?
Could skipped maintenance affect your warranty coverage without you realizing it?
Is your system working too hard, and does it matter?
Could missed maintenance shorten the useful life of your equipment?
How does maintenance now help you avoid emergency service calls later?
Are you receiving maintenance that actually fits your equipment, or just a quick check?
Each day, we will introduce you to a new situation, explain what happened, and share the moral of the story.
The first story begins tomorrow.
You can wait until then to read it, but you do not have to wait to find out what condition
your own equipment is in. Contact Hydronix Mechanical today to have a technician come out now.
